Home Party Plans in the news!

I’m posting this as a companion post to an upcoming article on FREE PUBLICITY, but since they cover two separate subjects I thought I’d post this by itself. I was able to do this interview and build this party plan story based on my own initiative and getting a little lucky with a fantastic journalist, Saint Bryan, from Evening Magazine. If you get your name out there, you can start to leverage media stories like this one and events to build your business.

Daren’s take on Home Party Plans

I haven’t done a home party plan in a few years, but I would if I had more time. I’ve learned some incredible lessons from this amazing business model. I’ve also consulted a few top companies and a few top agents on this amazing strategy. Considering the fact that over one third of the $30 billion direct sales industry consists of companies that focus primarily on home parties, the Home Party Plan strategy can not be ignored.

Let me start by saying, I love party plan companies, which are any network marketing or direct sales companies that promote their products and services almost exclusively through home parties and home demonstrations. I’ve learned some extremely valuable lessons from the home party plan industry. Here are some of my findings:

1. More than 99 percent of the home party plan industry is made up of women.
2. Retail is the lifeblood of any direct marketing company; party planners know this better than anyone.
3. There’s no better place to create a buying environment than in the living room of one of your friend’s homes.
4. Recognition can be a more powerful performance incentive than money.
5. Many people join direct sales for reasons other than making money. They can enjoy the relationships and camaraderie, they might thrive on the challenge, they may crave the recognition they receive as they advance, and they might have a passion for the products.
6. Party plan marketing is a retail sales and distributor duplication machine.
7. Party plan companies generally weight their compensation plans toward the front end so participants can earn commissions sooner. The reward is directly tied to the party itself (more on this in Chapter Eight).
8. Home party plans incorporate fun, education, and social interaction into the sales and marketing process.
9. Experienced party plan distributors can produce incredible personal sales volumes that would put most network marketers to shame.
10. Home parties, especially couples parties, can be a lot of fun!!!

As thrilled as I am about the virtues, and power, of the party plan model, I didn’t say much about this particular business model in my book. I don’t want to pick on home party plan companies. I’m just letting visitors know that my book, How to Select a Network Marketing Company was intended to outline the criteria and strategies for selecting a standard network marketing model. Standard MLMs weight the compensation to the middle and the back of the pay plans while most party plan companies weight towards the front. I’ll be discussing the home party plan model separately in future writings and articles.

But for now … PARTY ON … and enjoy this clip from a party plans story I put together a few years ago.

Network Marketing Buying Clubs

How to Select a Network Marketing Company Series
Discover the Keys to Scrutinizing, Comparing, and Selecting a Million-Dollar MLM Business

Now we’re going to cover some common myths associated with network marketing buying clubs. I hear these myths so often, that I decided to actually present the myth first, and then I’ll provide you with the facts to so you can see the contrast and understand the truth as it relates to one of the oldest, most traditional products/services in network marketing.

300BuyingClubCard.jpgWholesale buying clubs

Myth: Wholesale buying clubs are a powerful way to develop a large international marketing business while at the same time enjoying the benefits of wholesale prices on thousands of consumer products.

Fact: Wholesale buying clubs are a fantastic way to save money. However, MLM’s version of the wholesale buying club is not exactly wholesale. You can save as a consumer by skipping the middle-man retailers and going directly to the wholesale warehouse, but generally there is not enough profit margin left to run a true wholesale buying club. What you get instead is simply “a buying club.”

Here are some definitions of a wholesale buying club vs. a buying club:

Wholesale Buying Club: A group of consumers who band together to form a large purchasing organization to take advantage of volume discount prices. These clubs are exclusive to those who officially become members. Typically, wholesale buying club members will pay a monthly or annual fee for the exclusive right to purchase at factory-direct, wholesale prices. Traditional buying club members only shop at stores, but in today’s modern age, it is usually done through catalogs, 1-800 lines, and now, the Internet.

Buying Club: A group of consumers who band together to form a purchasing organization. The organization offers the same items you might find in the retail and wholesale store at similar prices, or possibly a bit higher. The organization retains the profits that would otherwise have been savings to the consumer. These profits fund the organization.

Most buying clubs are designed as fund-raising organizations for churches or other non-profit organizations. You may buy a ticket to an upcoming country western concert, and some of the proceeds go to the local fire department. Your church or school might sell chocolates that you could find at the store for about the same price or even much less; however, the church or school retains a percentage of the profits. Also, buying clubs are common among profit-producing organizations, such as direct sales or network marketing companies. A company offers items in a catalog that you can find for about the same price in the stores—the catalog prices could even be a bit higher. The company passes a percentage of its profits to independent distributors who are actively promoting the products and program.

Myth: Amway/Quixtar is a wholesale buying club.

The Six Criteria for Selecting a Top Distributorship

How to Select a Network Marketing Company Series
Discover the Keys to Scrutinizing, Comparing, and Selecting a Million-Dollar MLM Business

HTScoverPIC100w.jpgRather than simply running through the criteria I used for selecting the best company in network marketing, I want to walk you through the evaluation process, step-by-step. It’s valuable for network marketers to understand the importance of each criterion. You can use this system to rate any network marketing business venture.

Listed below are the Six Keys or criteria we will review in this article. Associated with each key are some of the critical questions that this article will answer. Don’t worry if you don’t understand the question before reading the chapters associated with each criterion or key. But keep in mind that eventually understanding these questions and their answers is critical to your success in network marketing.

Key #1: Profit Mindset – How to Think Like a Marketing Pro

In order to be able to recognize a good opportunity, you must be thinking with a marketing mind. This article will help you understand how successful home business owners think about success and money. Adopting these same beliefs and philosophies is your first step in selecting the right company. In my book, How to Select a Network Marketing Company (Chapter Four), I will answer these questions, and many others you might have about what it takes to have the mindset of a millionaire.

• What is your main reason for starting and maintaining a successful business?
• What is the difference between business ownership and self-employment?
• Would you rather be right or rich? Is ego more important than profits?
• What message is the marketplace sending you every day?
• Are you coachable enough to effectively apply what you learn in this book?

Key #2: Product Industry-What to Sell, and Why

The term product industry refers to the type of product or service you will be selling through your independent distributorship. Chapter Five of my book will answer the following questions in detail.

• Should I select a product company or a service company?
• Which product or service will produce the largest income for me?
• Should I go with a new idea or go with something proven?
• Which industries are absolutely not viable this year?
• What role do trends play in selecting a product industry?
• Should I choose a Baby Boomer industry, or does it matter?

What the network marketing industry needs…

… and how we can provide it, working together

mymlmisbetterthanyourmlm_cartoon500.jpgThere is one horrible, ugly, repulsive, repressive, defeating factor keeping every network marketer from fulfilling their true potential. This one factor, if reversed, could cause network marketing / MLM to become the most popular career in the world. What is this factor? It’s involves network marketing distributors attacking other distributors within the same MLM industry. It involves the backbiting, betrayal, and slandering of each other. You see, network marketing / mlm is a word-of-mouth industry. Distributors rely on person-to-person promotion to share the benefits of a new MLM product or service or to tell someone about a new network marketing business venture.

However, when network marketers run into the competition, something snaps and they forget who they are.  Instead of realizing there is room for everyone at the top and that we would all do better working together and supporting one another even though we’re in different MLM companies, distributors would rather spread unsubstantiated rumors about the competition’s product or business to try to make their own deal look better. Multiply this by all of the good people involved in this word-of-mouth business and you have a bad news machine cranking out dirty laundry at mass volume. No wonder network marketing has a bad rap. Network marketers are responsible for nurturing this myth.

Uniting Network Marketers for Fun and Profit

Can you imagine how successful all network marketers would be if we could just learn to support each other in the industry instead of tearing each other down? Network marketers (and everyone else) simply need education so they can develop the wisdom to understand the difference between legitimate business opportunities and scams. They need to learn that distributors in other legitimate companies are just like them. They need to learn to love network marketing as much as they love their own product and company.

One of the missions of www.networkmarketingreview.com is to unite the ethical and legitimate network marketing companies through their distributors and truly share the story of network marketing through the good people of this industry. The information and communications at this website will prove to its readers specifically why network marketing is the greatest home-based business strategy in the world. Through uniting as an industry, MLM can become one of the most powerful forces for good on the planet.

Let me know what you feel about these ideas, and keep the commentary coming.

Everyone is choosing network marketing

Copy of mlm-company-people-network-marketing-company-leads-software.jpgConsidered just fifteen to twenty years ago to be the domain of the housewife and blue collar worker, network marketing has now come of age. Network marketing or multi-level marketing (MLM) is now considered a white collar industry by the millions of people worldwide who are bold enough to look past the stereotypes and see this business for what it is.

Network marketing has become the business model of choice for those seeking extra income, or those wishing to completely replace their full-time income in a short period of time. With extremely low start-up costs, and extremely high income potential, home business hopefuls are turning to network marketing as an alternative to the expenses and hassles of traditional businesses or franchising.

In the past, network marketing was considered by many to be the last resort for people down on their luck who refused to seek traditional solutions. To others it was a social club for people who enjoyed adult interactions, camaraderie, and recognition. Today, network marketing is a high-tech, sophisticated, and professional business model. According the Direct Selling Association, it’s now a $100 billion per year industry worldwide. Pep rallies, prayer meetings, and the all to common “ambush” approach of “old school” network marketers has been replaced by webinars, email, search engines, and video conferencing.

With all of these advancements in network marketing in recent years, it’s no wonder that top business consultants, authors, and celebrities have good things to say about network marketing. Just ask best selling authors Robert Kiyosaki, Robert G Allen, Mark Victor Hansen and Jack Canfield, T Harv Eker, Denis Waitley, Brian Tracy, Paul Zane Pilzer, Richard Paul Evans, Tom Hopkins, Anthony Robbins, and even Donald Trump what they think of network marketing. MLM is going main stream and now is the time to find out if it’s right for you. Before we can know if network marketing will work for you, it’s important to understand just how this business model works.
